Mission Statement and News Release

The recent events in the discovery of the remains of Sam and Lindsey Porter have unfortunately made moot the first and last points of the Mission Statement. However, Sam and Lindsey have been reunited in heaven with their God.

The balance of the Mission Statement remains intact. The methodology of achieving the remaining eight goals will be as follows:

1: Lobby for the institution of an "Amber Alert Czar" who will have the authority to cut across jurisdictional lines to streamline and facilitate the effectiveness of the Amber Alert System;

2: Lobby for the institution of the Crime Victims equivalence of the Sailors and Soldiers Relief Act where families will be protected in their financial situation with payment deferrals during search and rescue activities;

3: Lobby for the institution of a Victims Counseling Organization and Support Group to assist family members and victims in dealing with the immense psychological pressure of dealing with missing family members.

We thank the many friends and concerned citizens who assisted in the search for Sam and Lindsey. We thank the press for their concern and sensitivity. We thank law enforcement and the prosecutors office for their past and continuing efforts.

It is important for all to know that Tina Porter, and others in the institution, will work relentlessly in an attempt to avoid such tragic circumstances befalling others.

3: To assist in the coordination of efforts locally, statewide and nationally for the implementation and improvement of the "Amber Alert System";

4: To educate the public and private sectors about the mission of assisting endangered children;

5: To educate families and their children in preventive measures;

6: To educate and advocate within the legal system as to the protection of endangered children;

7: To provide financial assistance to families in the pursuit of the goals in the mission statement;

8: To research and implement the passage of laws for the protection of endangered children;

9: To facilitate the communication between jurisdictions as to the location of endangered children;
